VMworld Barcelona 2014

I’m back at work after a great few days at VMworld Barcelona 2014.

My focus this time was learning about NSX, therefore I completed 2 NSX labs, and attended 5 NSX breakout sessions. There were also unsurprisingly a number of mentions of it in the general sessions, and private meetings.

I have to say that I found a number of the breakout sessions quite disappointing. Most of them wasted the first 20-30 minutes on repeating the same overview of NSX, in particular, NET1743 (the NSX Technical Deep Dive) seemed to me to be just an hour long NSX overview, which I felt to be quite a let-down.

NET1589 (Reference Design for SDDC with NSX and vSphere) I enjoyed as it breathed some life into the NSX Design Guide pdfs. Also NET1674 (Advanced Topics and Future Directions in NV with NSX) was interesting, giving an insight into where NSX is heading in the future.

I will be resuming the Study Guide now that I’m back. Section 2.2 is close to completion and will hopefully be published early next week.
